EX-NYPD DETECTIVE: BALTIMORE MAYOR ‘HAS BLOOD ON HER HANDS

By Greg Richter

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has "blood on her hands" following 28 shootings and nine fatalities over the Memorial Day weekend, says former New York City Police Detective Pat Brosnan.

Brosnan, appearing Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto," said that includes not the just weekend shootings, but the 40 wounded and 20 killed in Baltimore since rioting began there on April 27 following the death of Freddie Gray in police custody.
"It's a standard cause and effect," Brosnan said. Rawlings-Blake "disempowered the police and empowered the thugs with her statement to look the other way and let those who want to destroy things destroy on their own," he said.

"That empowerment declawed the police, and she has blood on her hands, because that rhetoric, that order … was a contributing factor in these consequences," he said.

Not only are criminals empowered, he said, but police feel afraid to act for fear they will be charged with a crime for doing their jobs, he said. Much the same effect has been seen in New York City after its stop-and- frisk policy was ended, he said. Baltimore police don't have the backing of their superiors, he said.
"In fact, the stamp of approval was given to the thugs," he said.
